Skills
Bring your own expertise to Franklin.
A skill is a reusable set of instructions for a task. Franklin offers its own workflows in Discover, and lets you add private skills without submitting them for marketplace review.
Add a Franklin skill
- Open Skills in the chat sidebar, then choose Discover.
- Choose Add skill on a workflow.
- Choose Use in chat, then describe your task.
The skill appears above the composer while selected. It applies only to that conversation during the current session. Remove it from the composer to continue without it. New chats start without a selected skill.
Import your own skill
- Open My skills and choose Import skill.
- Upload a Markdown file, paste a complete SKILL.md, or enter a link to a public GitHub Markdown file.
- Review its name, description, instructions, and runtime requirement.
- Add the skill, then choose Use in chat or Set up locally.
A SKILL.md needs YAML frontmatter with a name and description, followed by instructions. The file limit is 64 KB; a personal library holds up to 40 skills.

Never invent product capabilities, deadlines, or refunds.GitHub imports accept individual public .md files on github.com or raw.githubusercontent.com. Private repositories, entire repositories, ZIP packages, and supporting files are not imported by this web flow.
Manage your library
My skills includes search, enable/disable controls, instructions, export, and deletion. Personal skills can be edited. Franklin skills are read-only; export and rename one to create a personal version. Imported skills stay private and do not appear in Discover.
Where skills are saved
- Signed out: saved in this browser on this device.
- Signed in with BlockRun: saved to your account and permanent member identity.
- Signed in with a wallet: saved to that verified wallet identity.
These are separate libraries. Signing in does not automatically upload anonymous skills or merge them into an account. Export and reimport any skills you want to move. Merely connecting a wallet for payment is different from signing in for storage.
Skills with local dependencies
Web skills use Franklin's existing tools. Importing instructions does not add an API, authorize a connection, install software, or change payment permissions. If your skill depends on scripts, supporting files, local commands, or a missing service connection, mark it as needing local setup. Franklin also detects common local dependencies.
Importing a file is different from installing a package
Choose Set up locally for Desktop and Terminal setup links and a request to copy into your local Franklin conversation. Give the agent the complete skill package and provider instructions. Franklin loads user skills from ~/.blockrun/skills/<skill-name>/SKILL.md, and project skills from .franklin/skills/<skill-name>/SKILL.md. Check the installer supports Franklin or place the complete package in a supported directory, then verify the loaded skills and dependencies.
For example, OKX OnchainOS ships a CLI and runtime dependencies. Open the OKX local setup guide; adding its instructions on the web does not install the CLI or connect its wallet.
